Patrick has been writing poetry since his days at Headfort. He has written four books. He also gives readings of his poetry at festivals, most recently the Smurfit Samhain festival in Donegal and the Patrick Kavanagh Festival weekend in Co Monaghan. Meeting the Moment

Held in space

A girl moves through

But not quite landscapes

Not on the ground

Midway,

Coming to meet,

Beautiful, poised,

Offering simplicity

Up to the spirits

Of the Moment,

Entranced,

With this real or unreal figure

Walking, dancing

Lying, sitting in soft colour

Balanced perfectly. still.

Hovering in the slowly moving air,

Painted on the canvas of our lives

This delicate alchemy
