About Restoration

Siobhán  trained as a conservator under Paul d'Aguilar of the Courtauld Institute and trained as a copyist under Theodore Ramos. She is naturally listed in the " Conservation Register " published by the Museums and Galleries, Queen Anne's gate, London and is a member of IPCRA. The following advice on the care of oil paintings will help protect paintings against the passage of time.

  • Never hang an oil painting above either a radiator or a fire
  • Always make sure that the wire or chain which supports the picture is adequately strong
  • Paintings should never be wiped with a damp cloth.
  • Transport and move paintings as infrequently as possible.

Cleaning test carried out on a classical landscape

Siobhan has recently worked on conserving paintings from the collections of Limerick City Gallery of Art and Meath and Kildare County Councils and various private collections. In working on paintings, she follows museum criteria in the methods she uses. She aims principally to conserve what is there and restore only when necessary. She also accepts commissions as a copyist and her recent client list would include Ascot Racecourse and Dromoland Castle, Co. Clare. If you are interested in having a painting conserved/restored and would like to see examples of previous work, please phone or email
