Siobhan Conyngham

Detail from Still Life with lemons

Siobhán Conyngham was born in Glasgow and spent her childhood abroad before studying History of Art at University College London. This was followed by time as a Guest Student at the Royal Academy of Arts. She trained as a conservator under Paul d'Aguilar. Her work may be seen in both public and private collections in Ireland, England and the United States. She has exhibited widely in Ireland, both North and South.  Pressed for a statement about her aims as an artist, she speaks of her wish to capture something of an image from nature, a moment - to see something, even a glimpse, be inspired by it and try to put some of it on to paper, panel or canvas (without analyzing it too much). In her larger works, which are much more considered and worked, her aim is to carry on working much further on that moment and to try to combine the elements in the painting to achieve a sense of balance, calm and mystery. Siobhán has held several one person shows, most recently in the Newry and Mourne Arts Centre, the Guinness Gallery in Dublin and the Basement Gallery in Dundalk. Siobhán 's sons are artists in the making. Two of Merlin's may be viewed Here
